Rice is life for millions of people around the world. At the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) a team of more than 1,000 world-class scientific and support staff are working to reduce poverty through rice science. To support the ongoing research activities, we are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative and motivated person to manage IRRI's Physical Plant Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading the activities of eight subunits, the Head of Physical Plant Services will be responsible for (a) the efficient operation and maintenance of all buildings and facilities (e.g. water, power, roads) on the research campus and housing areas and (b) overseeing the development of new scientific facilities.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will be a licensed Architect, Engineer or Professional Manager, with 10 years relevant experience in a humid tropical environment, practical knowledge of relevant international standards and best practices in design and construction, work place safety and energy efficiency. Having excellent written and spoken English, s/he will have experience in cost management and in the supervision of staff and contractors.

The position will be based at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) headquarters in Los BaƱos, Laguna, Philippines, with a competitive compensation and benefit package.
